Collect evidence of what you can do
Turn work, projects, volunteering and informal experience into specific, honest examples.
- Who this is for
- You have experience but struggle to describe it, or you think you have 'nothing to show'.
- You will have
- At least five confirmed items in your JoRoute profile, each backed by an example in your own words.
- Time
- 20–40 minutes
Before you start
- Old job descriptions, performance notes or messages of thanks (if you have them)
- Certificates or training records
Steps
- List where you have done real work
Jobs, side work, caregiving, volunteering, school, community groups. Informal experience counts if you can describe what you did.
- For each, write one specific task
Not 'responsible for customers' but 'answered about 40 customer emails a day'. Use numbers only if you actually know them.
- Add the result or what changed
What was better because you did it? Faster, fewer errors, happier customers, a finished project. If you don't know the effect, describe what you delivered.
- Note tools, methods and skills
Software, equipment, languages, ways of working. These become searchable skills in your profile.
- Collect proof you could show
Certificates, work samples you are allowed to share, public projects, references. Never share an employer's confidential material.
- Confirm or correct every suggestion
JoRoute suggests skills from your words. Confirm only what is accurate; correct or delete the rest. Only confirmed items are used in your summary.
Example
Before: Helped with scheduling.
After:
Built the weekly shift schedule for a 12-person team in Excel and covered last-minute absences.
