How JoRoute decides what to publish, where facts and figures come from, and how mistakes are fixed.

Last updated 2026-10-21

Sources we use

  • U.S. federal and state government agencies — for example the Department of Labor, the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the IRS, the FTC, the EEOC, the Office of Personnel Management (USAJOBS) and state labor and workforce agencies.
  • Official data services run for or by those agencies, such as O*NET (sponsored by the U.S. Department of Labor).
  • Employers' own job boards, read through the public interfaces they publish, for job listings.

We do not use anonymous blogs, forum posts, unsourced statistics or other job sites' estimates as sources. An AI tool is never a source.

Facts and figures

  • Every figure names its source and the date it was checked.
  • Counts such as "open jobs in Texas" come from JoRoute's own store of listings and say so; nothing is estimated or projected.
  • When a source does not give a figure, the page says it is not stated rather than filling the gap.

Job listings

  • Listings are shown as the employer published them — title, pay, job type and location are not rewritten or improved.
  • Each listing names its source and links to the employer's own application page. A listing missing from a complete refresh is paused, and every listing leaves JoRoute 20 days after it first appears.
  • Listings from official sources are never labelled as scams. JoRoute's offer check reports warning signs in text you paste; it is not a legal finding about any employer.

How pages are written

Guides and information pages are written by the JoRoute team, sometimes with the help of AI writing tools. Whatever tool helps with the wording, every factual statement must trace back to a source listed on the page, opened and checked on the date shown. If a claim cannot be traced to a source, it is not published. Examples that are invented to illustrate a step are labelled "Illustrative example".

Review and updates

Each guide shows the date it was reviewed and the date each source was checked. Pages are re-checked when their official source publishes new figures — for example state minimum wage changes — and at least once a year.

Independence and paid links

  • Partner links that may pay JoRoute a commission are labelled "Paid link" right next to the link, as the FTC's Endorsement Guides expect, and appear after JoRoute's own free content.
  • No partner or employer can pay to change search results, rankings, warnings or what a guide says. Any listing an employer pays for would be marked "Sponsored".

Corrections

If you find a mistake, write to hello@joroute.com with the page address and what is wrong. We check the claim against the official source; confirmed errors are fixed and the page's review date is updated.
