Job alerts without giving us your email

Follow new job listings by situation or by U.S. state with a free feed reader. No email address, no account, nothing stored about you.

Why JoRoute does not send email alerts

An email alert means keeping a list of addresses. A list can leak, and a leaked list of job seekers is exactly what job scammers want: people who are actively looking and under time pressure are the people scam job ads target (Federal Trade Commission). JoRoute would rather not hold that list at all.

A feed moves the subscription to software you control. JoRoute never learns your address, never knows which feeds you follow, and has nothing about you to lose. There is no account to make and nothing to unsubscribe from: you remove the feed in your own reader.

Feeds are served as plain files. JoRoute's server logs record the request path and status only — never who asked. See Privacy.

How to use a feed, if this is new to you

  1. Install a feed reader. It is an app that checks pages for you and shows what is new, like an inbox you never have to clean out. Several are free — a few are listed below.
  2. Copy the feed address of the list you care about from this page — for example the one for your state, or for remote jobs.
  3. Paste it into the reader and it will show new listings as employers post them. Opening one takes you to the listing on JoRoute, which links to the employer's own application page.

Clicking a feed link in a browser often shows raw code rather than a page. That is normal: the address is meant to be pasted into a reader, not opened directly.

Readers people use

  • Feedly — web and phone app, free tier
  • Inoreader — web and phone app, free tier
  • NetNewsWire — free and open source, Mac and iPhone
  • Thunderbird — free and open source, reads feeds beside your email

These are not partners. JoRoute earns nothing if you use any of them, and has no relationship with any of them. Any reader that accepts a feed address will work.

Or just bookmark the search

Every filtered search on JoRoute has its own plain address. Filter the jobs the way you want on Find jobs, then bookmark the page — the address carries your filters, so opening the bookmark runs the same search again with whatever is open that day. You can send that address to someone else too.

Nothing about the bookmark reaches JoRoute: it lives in your browser, like any other bookmark.
