Write an honest, focused resume, cover letter and introduction

Use your confirmed evidence to write materials tailored to one role — without inventing anything.

Who this is for
You have a match table for a posting and need application materials.
You will have
A tailored resume section, a short cover letter (when asked) and a 30-second introduction.
Time
45–60 minutes for the first version, 15 minutes to tailor later ones

Before you start

  • Your requirement → evidence table
  • Your JoRoute summary (built from confirmed items)

Steps

  1. Start from your confirmed summary

JoRoute builds a summary and introduction only from items you confirmed. Copy it as a starting point.

  2. Write bullets as action + task + result

Begin with a verb, say what you did, end with the result you know. Use numbers only if they are true and you could explain them.

  3. Order by relevance to this posting

Put the bullets that match the posting's required items first. Remove experience that doesn't help this application.

  4. Write a short cover letter only when asked or useful

Three short paragraphs: why this role, two matching examples, a polite close. Never repeat claims you can't support.

  5. Prepare a 30-second introduction

Who you are, what you do best (with one example), what you are looking for. Practise it out loud.

  6. Track every application

Keep a simple log: company, role, date, link to the official posting, contact, next follow-up date.

Example

Before: Responsible for customer service.

After:

Answered customer emails in Zendesk and cut average first-response time from 9 to 2 hours by redesigning the triage queue.

Illustrative example — the numbers must be the writer's own, known results.

Common mistakes

  • Adding skills, titles or dates you can't support
  • One generic resume for every posting
  • Paying a 'recruiter' to submit your resume — legitimate employers don't charge applicants
