The Next Offer · Episode 15 of 16

The Tracker

Daniel organizes evidence into a timeline. It supports a report of impersonation and repeated scripts, but does not identify the sender.

Daniel opened his tracker and added columns for date and time, sender, company claimed, job code, domain, request, independent confirmation, and status.

The pattern was easier to see when the facts were in order. Several messages used the same unusual phrase. The job code was not recognized by the real company. The application form used a different domain and asked for bank details too early. The formal offer had been denied by the company. The equipment request involved a check and a designated vendor.

Those facts justified reporting the messages as suspicious and the offer as an impersonation. They did not reveal who was behind the activity. The tracker could organize evidence; it could not fill in missing facts.

Daniel sent a concise evidence packet to the relevant platform and official company contacts. He included original messages and screenshots, not just edited summaries. He avoided publishing private information or accusing a named person.

That afternoon, a legitimate employer invited him to interview. He checked the official careers page, confirmed the recruiter through the company’s normal channel, and accepted the appointment.

Then he noticed a recruiter’s name that resembled one from the suspicious messages. Similar names were not proof. Daniel asked the company to confirm the person’s role and how his application had entered the process.

The written offer arrived the following week. Daniel had learned to move forward without ignoring uncertainty—or letting uncertainty control every decision.

Fiction. This is a work of fiction. Daniel and every person, message and event in the story are invented. It does not describe a real JoRoute user, and no real employer, recruiter or platform is involved. Job code NX-8841 is made up too.
