Describe a time you found that the data you were given was wrong.

Read first: a sample answer

Fictional sample answer written by JoRoute to show the shape of a strong answer. Do not copy it: replace every detail with what is true for you.

In 2022 I was given a customer file for a churn analysis and noticed that 18% of sign-up dates were later than the cancel dates. I checked the data quality with the engineering team and found a time-zone bug in the export. I told my manager before sharing any results, re-ran the export with the fix and documented the issue. The churn rate in my first draft would have been 4 points too high. After I re-ran the export, the churn rate in the report fell from 9% to the correct 5%, and I added a date check to every export I receive.

Use only details that are true for you. The benchmark below is fictional.
