What makes a dashboard useful, and how have you built one?

Read first: a sample answer

Fictional sample answer written by JoRoute to show the shape of a strong answer. Do not copy it: replace every detail with what is true for you.

A useful dashboard answers one decision for one audience, so I start by asking who opens it and what they do next. For example, in 2023 I built a dashboard in Looker for warehouse managers showing late orders by shift, with only four metrics. I added a data-freshness note at the top so they could trust it. Late orders fell by 15% over the next quarter because managers moved staff to the worst shift. I review my dashboards monthly and remove any chart nobody uses, because good data and analysis starts with the decision.

Use only details that are true for you. The benchmark below is fictional.
