In 2023 I found that a new onboarding email lifted sign-ups, but the result was not statistically certain yet. I had to explain this to the marketing team, who wanted to roll it out to everyone. I avoided the term p-value and said: if we ran this ten times, we would see a lift in about seven. I showed one simple chart. They agreed to run it two more weeks, and the lift held at 6%. Clear communication stopped a decision being made on noise.
