How do you write requirements so that engineers and designers build the right thing?

I use a one-page Confluence template for requirements that starts with the problem and who has it, because engineers make better choices when they know why. Then I add acceptance criteria as plain checks and two or three examples. For example, for a password reset flow in 2023 I wrote seven acceptance criteria, including what happens with an expired link. I share the draft with engineering and design before it is final and stay available on chat. That communication cut our questions during the sprint from about twenty to five.
